On January 30th and January 31, seven musicians from Rangeley Lakes Regional School participated in the Kennebec Valley Music Educators’ Association Honors Music Festival, which was held at Lawrence High School, in Fairfield. Students who wished to participate in the festival auditioned back in October, and only the best musicians from over fifteen schools were chosen. Once selected, the students were given choral pieces to learn, and spent the majority of the two-day festival rehearsing and perfecting those pieces with the approximately 75 voice choruses. The senior honors group was led by Virgil Bozeman, choral director at Richmond Middle/High School and the junior honors group was led by Dean Neal, music teacher at Nokomis High School. The seven participating Rangeley students were Skyler Thompson (Grade 6), Kayla Brewer, Mya Gellman, Lance Cunningham (Grade 9), Troy Hathaway (Grade 10), Hannah Snow (Grade 11), Jordan Atkinson (Grade 12).
